Geocache Description:

This little triangle of land to the east of the dual carriageway is hardly used since the dual carriageway cut it off, but it is rather pleasant, supporting, as it does, plenty of wildlife and is home to many different types of planted tree. It also supports the odd dog walker too!

You do not need to cross the road to get here as there is an underpass at N51 48.366 W002 42.954 which is the only real access point.

The area is worth an explore by itself but I wanted to bring you to the confluence of the River Monnow and the River Wye (ie where they meet) as it's a really pleasant but under-used spot. It is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation and the footpath here is permissive.

The cache is just shy of the last point of land and as such you don't actually need to go down the bank to access the small-to-regular sized cache, nor do you need to lean out over the water to reach it, but it is worth going the few extra metres to drop down the bank to stand on the 'shore' once you've got the cache. The cache is in a camoflaged bag.

Cache placed with kind permission of Natural Resources Wales
