How Geocaching Works
Kidder? Why not, since this point's name is synonymous with joke. The road goes to Sears Island, owned by Maine DOT. The road was constructed for a millon or about by the State of Maine as access to what was originally planned to contain a nuclear power plant and later a cargo port, both of which fell through. Not kidding. Road is plowed in the winter by the DOT and goes nowhere. Well not really, because a great hot top road continues onto the island after a concrete barricade. Walking is a popular activity here because of lack of traffic and the natural beauty of a thousand acre undeveloped island. Cache is accessible in winter not much off the road. Park near the railroad track and trust your GPS. Look for a plastic container about 8 inches square. Just for fun try not to use the hint. More kidding?
