Perthshire Big Tree Country is 2,000 sq miles of outstanding woodlands with the greatest concentration of Heritage Trees in Europe. It has mountains, hills, rivers, lochs, cataracts, and wildlife in abundance. And more than a few caches.

Paul's guided walk will follow in the footsteps of composers and poets, dukes and rebels to Ossian's Hall and the Black Linn, Tolkien Tower, and up to PineCone Point, one of the best viewpoints in Perthshire.

The ancient cathedral town of Dunkeld is at the very heart of Big Tree Country, well worth exploring after your walk. Sited along the north bank of the River Tay, complete with its wee white houses and cathedral just across the Thomas Telford bridge where you will find an assortment of cafes, restaurants and a chip shop, or sample the popular scottish dish of stovies by the Taybank washed down with a pint of the local Perthshire brew.

Or just south of the river from Dunkeld lies the wee hamlet of Birnam, steeped in history, from Shakespeare to Beatrix Potter. Youngsters will enjoy exploring the garden finding Peter Rabbit and friends. Here you will find the Birnam Institute, now extended to include an Arts and Conference centre. There is also a Beatrix Potter Exhibition here and provided you make a purchase in the Foyer cafe you will be able to take advantage of their free WiFi facilities.

Please state numbers in your group when logging your intention to join the walk.
