Geocache Description:

This 3-stage multi-cache will take you on a tour of the beautiful Isle of Purbeck which boasts some of the best sea views and spectacular scenery in Dorset. The cache itself is hidden near Corfe Castle, a picturesque village dominated by the ruins of a medieval castle.

The above coordinates are for free parking nearest the cache. Alternative parking is given in the Additional Waypoints section.

To find the coordinates of the cache you need to visit three Ordnance Survey trig points and collect two pieces of information from each: the serial number on the flush bracket set into the pillar, and the number of (open) drainage holes in the pillar. These are positioned in the centre of one or more of the sides of the pillar near the base.

You can visit the trig points in any order but we suggest that you visit trig point 3 last as this is nearest to the cache. Trig points 1 & 2 are on the way to two of our other caches so you get three caches for the price of one! Parking and other useful information is given in the cache descriptions for these caches.

If you walk to each trig point from the nearest car park you'll cover about 7 miles (not to mention a few hills) so although it's possible to do the cache in one day you may prefer to do it over two or three days. If you've already found our Old Harry Rocks or Swyre Head caches let us know and we'll give you the required information to save you a second trip!

The circular walk from the suggested parking to the cache via trig point 3 is about 2 miles with some steep sections. We recommend that you take a walking pole! Please see the Additional Waypoints below for our suggested route.

Trig point 1:
Map: N 50° 37.899 W 001° 56.330
What is the serial number of the trig point? Answer = S2abc
How many (open) drainage holes are there in the pillar? Answer = d
Note: Trig point 1 is en route to our Old Harry Rocks cache.

Trig point 2:
Map: N 50° 36.401 W 002° 05.700
What is the serial number of the trig point? Answer = S2efg
How many (open) drainage holes are there in the pillar? Answer = h
Note: Trig point 2 is en route to our Swyre Head cache.

Trig point 3:
Map: N 50° 38.443 W 002° 04.485
What is the serial number of the trig point? Answer = S2ijk
How many (open) drainage holes are there in the pillar? Answer = m

Using the numbers collected the cache is at N 50° 38. (d+m) h k  W 002° 03. (f+h) d k

The cache is a 4½ litre lock & lock box and was last restocked on 17 March 2016. All our trade items are new and cost at least £1 each. To reward you for the extra effort required to do this cache we'd like you to take something from the cache with our compliments (no swop required). We'd appreciate it if you could mention what you take in your online log.

It might be best not to leave trackables in this cache as it doesn't get many visitors!

This cache has been placed with the kind permission of the National Trust.

The alliterative name of this cache was inspired by the TV cult classic Banzai, popular at the time of placing. Bet! Bet! Bet!
