In mid-April, 2006, I was hiking on the Paugusset Trail (5 miles south of here), and this ammo can was in my pack. I was going to place it farther down the trail. No one knew where I was...
I was crossing White Hills Brook, when I slipped on a wet rock and my feet went out in front of me, and I fell over six feet and landed flat on my back on a rock.
I probably would have broken something, but the ammo can gave and I put a dent in it.
It was 20 minutes before I knew I was going to be able to stand up, let alone walk out of there about .4 miles. Miraculously, I hadn't broken my back or pelvis. What would I have done if I couldn't walk, and my cell phone got wet?
The moral of the story is always let someone know where you're going.....
