Top of the World Cache Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

BlueRajah: As there's been no cache to find for months and the owner had been missing since 25 March 2010, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact me in the next three months if you have repaired the cache, and assuming it still meets the guidelines, I will be happy to unarchive it.

Thank you,

Geocache Description:

Located at the top of the "Top of the World" 4WD/bike trail, approximately 30 miles Northeast of Moab, UT.

The cache is a flat, sandwich-sized tupperware style container, and is located under a rock ledge. Immediately to the North of the access road (to the right when facing the top of the trail) is a rock ledge. The cache is located under the ledge about 75 feet downhill from the "Top of the World" viewpoint.

The trail itself is a total of 9.6 miles (one way) and begins on the South side of the Dewey Bridge where Highway 128 crosses the Colorado River. The trail is featured in most trail guides to the Moab, Ut area, and is suitable for hiking, biking, ATV or 4WD. The rock ledges on the road will be a challenge to most stock 4WD vehicles.

The views from the top of this trail (over 7000 feet) are truly incredible. The viewpoint is immediately above the Fisher Tower spires, and views of the Colorado River basin, LaSal Mountains, Onion Valley, and area rock formations are awe inspiring. Well worth the day's outing!
