Geocache Description:

The cache is near the Idlewood Station stop on the West Busway. A historic springhouse is nearby.

Welcome to The Idlewood Station Springhouse Cache presented by TheKeltonKrewe. The cache was placed Monday Septemebr 12th 2005, archived after a muggle attack in early 2006, and reinstated 03/26/2006. It's a yellow plastic first aid container with only enough room for a small log book and a few pencils. The size is about 1.5 x 2.5 x 3 inches, so at least for now this cache is not for trade items.

Park in the West Busway park n ride lot at the intersection of Morange Road and Idlewood Road. Notice the old springhouse across Morange Road. Almost half a century ago krewe member prisoner6 fetched cool, sweet water from the springhouse and carried it a quarter mile or so back to his parent's house. Sadly today the spring has been plugged, but the springhouse still stirs memories of the the refreshing water - not to mention aching arms and back - to prisoner6.

In fact in the late 1800's into the 1900's the area was a kind of resort noted for it's rejuvinating waters. Just behind the springhouse was a several story hotel. The busway was a rail line and what is now a bus stop was Idlewood Station train station.

Originally we wanted to place the cache very close to the springhouse but discovered there was too much broken glass and other debris there to make for an enjoyable search. A dozen yards or so into the woods behind the springhouse there is a pile of old automobile windshields dating from the 50's I'd guess.

We found a somewhat safer spot for the cache, and it shouldn't be too hard to find. Because the lot is busy during weekday work hours you may have to park on the other side of the busway along Chartiers Avenue or along Idlewood Road and work your way back. Or of course just visit in the evening hours or weekends when the lot is pretty much empty.

We made multiple passes with the GPS with an accuracy of less than 10 feet.

Make sure to put the lid back on the container and replace it exactly as it was found including any camo used. This is a small containter and in an area at high risk of muggle attack so please no travel bugs here.

Thanks,

TheKeltonKrewe
