WARNING: Some recent cachers informed me that there is a yellow jacket nest in the area of this cache. Please be careful, especially if you are allergic. I definitely don't want anyone getting hurt or stung at this cache, so please be careful, alert, and have fun!
Placed just off of Rocky Top road in the Cherokee National Forest. From I40, take exit 440. Turn onto HWY 73 North until it ends at HWY 25/70, about 5 or 6 miles. Turn right and follow 25/70 East about 3 miles, then turn right onto Edwina Bridgeport Road. Follow Edwina Bridgeport road about 1/2 mile then turn left onto the gravel road at N35*56.718, W83*07.568. Wiley Town road is the paved road on the left, and the gravel road on the right is Rocky Top Road, but is not marked. There will be a white church sign right next to the gravel road. After following Rocky top for about 3/4 of a mile, the road will split three ways at a house - take the center road. Park at N35*55.768, W83*06.525 and walk around the gate to go to the cache.
Cache is a metal ammo box that has been camouflaged. It is off of the dirt road a couple hundred feet. Explore the trail past the cache for some peek-a-boo views on clear days. Accuracy was not so great, so coordinates are average of several. My GPS unit and a friend's took us back to it several times after testing, so hopefully you will be close. Watch your step off the trail, ground is mostly rocks covered in dead leaves.
Contains log book, several toys and stickers, some batteries, and an inexpensive digital camera which should be left in the cache. Please feel free to take a pic of yourself or your mascot. I will post them on the cache periodically.
You can "Cache in, Trash out" this one if you wish, as this area is unfortunately abused by some vistors from time to time.
