PIGS IN SPACE! Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team Cache Divers: Well sufficient time has passed even for a procrastinator like myself.

Time to archive another great event.

Thanks again for everyone that could make it!

Take Care and Be Well!

Sincerely,

DangerousDale (1/2 or Team Cache Divers)

Geocache Description:

Well not quite pigs in space (I just love this legendary skit on it) but it is a space related event.

We will be meeting at a local watering hole that has imaginary food from about 6:30 PM until your ready to go.

Geocaching HQ will issue a Geocaching in Space souvenir to those who attend Event Caches during the launch.

We will have some space (past, present, future and beyond!) & geocaching trivia questions for a few prizes. Extra credit for bringing space related items to the event.

Please let us know how many in your party will be joining us so we can give the restaurant a heads up.

We will be celebrating astronaut Rick Mastracchio going up to the ISS International Space Station geocache with a new Geocaching Travel Bug.

Mastracchio will be using the Travel Bug as an educational tool to help teach students around the world about geography & other educational lessons.

The mission is currently scheduled to launch from Kazakhstan at 4:08 GMT on November 7. That means the launch is planned to liftoff at 5:08 AM in Berlin and November 6 at 11:08 PM our time. As this is a  real-deal rocket launch, it could be delayed. In this case we’ll issue the souvenir for attending an event on November 6 or 7, and for attending an event on the the actual launch date.

You can watch the launch live online or check out the recording later and celebrate the geocaching community’s spirit of exploration.

Follow the trackable TB5JJN1 International Space Station Travel Bug II by the 5th Grade Class of Chase Elementary School-Waterbury, CT on it's adventure.
