It may be hard to get a reading in this area, so I am going to be
very specific in describing how to get to the general area of the
cache. You may even be able to do without your GPSr. The topo map
should be fairly helpful.
If you park at the top of the hill, you will be bushwhacking
over a couple of hills. There is another parking area at the foot
of the hill on the west side of the road. If you start from here,
you will have a relatively flat walk right up to the last little
bit.
From the lower parking area, cross the road and start up the
creek (north). You don't necessarily have to cross the creek here,
but there is a deer trail on the other side that you can pick up
now and then; it will make the going a bit easier. Stick close to
the creek at first.
As the hill to your right gets steeper, be sure to check out the
great rock formations there. They look even better close up (one
even has a depression carved out of it that looks almost like a
cave entrance); it is a bit difficult getting up to them, but worth
it.
Continue up the creek until you see a draw going up to the
right--pass this by and keep going. A bit farther on you will see
another draw going up to the right (or straight ahead) and a
smaller one going off to the left. Keep to the right. It would
probably be beneficial to take a bearing and distance reading now,
as you will probably lose your signal soon.
At the end of this ravine is a natural bridge over a dripping
waterfall. You're almost there. The cache is ABOVE the bridge.
Probably the best way to get to the cache is to climb up to the
left of the bridge, cross over it, then continue up the hill.
It will probably take about half an hour to get from your car to
the bridge. I would not recommend this cache for young children or
anyone who requires a real trail. I have only ever been here in the
winter and I have no idea how grown up this place might get in the
summer. Also, you will not be able to complete this cache if you
are unable to climb a steep hill. However, it is still an enjoyable
trip for anyone who doesn't mind waiting below the bridge while the
rest of their party completes the quest.
Please don't get too close to the edge of the bridge and please
be extra cautious if there is snow on it.
Cache safely!
