The wetland area known as the
"Charca de Suarez," is located in the town of Motril, near the
beach of Poniente of that municipality, in the field called
"Payment of Suarez", from where it receives its
name.

ORIGINS -
ORIGENES
This wetland area has its
genesis in the system of Guadalfeo river, with a vast plain of
gravel, sand and clay (floodplain) from contributions of loose
material (rubble) that give rise to an extensive delta.
Esta zona húmeda tiene su
génesis en el sistema del río Guadalfeo, con una extensa llanura de
grava, arena y arcilla (llanura aluvial) de aportes de material
suelto (material detrítico) que dan lugar a un extenso delta.
The wetland of the Pond of
Suarez had its origin in the geological evolution of the delta of
Guadalfeo river which, due to increased sedimentation of the
materials that dragged, underwent a process of progressive filling
(a reduction of the permeability of the soil and material
accumulation) and yet there was a retreat of the coastline.
El humedal de la Charca de Suárez
tuvo su origen en la evolución geológica del delta del río
Guadalfeo el cual, debido al aumento de la sedimentación de
los materiales que arrastraba, sufrió un proceso de
colmatación (se reduce la permeabilidad del suelo y se
acumulan los materiales) progresiva a la par que se producía
un retroceso de la línea de costa.
These phenomena led to the
Salobreña Motril Vega where, finally, the domain of the river
sedimentation against the coastal waters erosion (the sea) created
a river system of interlocking channels of highly variable course
(delta). These channels generate the appearance of water logged
areas (pools).
Estos fenómenos dieron lugar a
la Vega Motril-Salobreña donde, finalmente, debido al dominio de la
sedimentación del río (sedimentación fluvial) frente a la acción
erosiva de las aguas litorales (del mar), se creó un sistema
fluvial de canales entrelazados de curso muy variable (delta).
Estos canales generaron la aparición de zonas encharcadas
(charcas).
Later in the channeling of
Guadalfeo river, disappeared the delta and were only groundwater,
provided by the own river. These waters made and make all of
Guadalfeo Wetlands, including the Pond of Suarez.
Posteriormente con la
canalización del río Guadalfeo, desapareció el delta y sólo
quedaron las aguas subterráneas que aportaba el mismo río. Estas
aguas hicieron y hacen posible todos los Humedales del Guadalfeo,
incluyendo la Charca de Suárez.
The lagoon called "Charca Suarez
" and most recently "Laguna Norte" and "Laguna Sur" are surfaces of
free perennial water, although fluctuating, which have fueled much
of Groundwater from the aquifer of Motril-Salobreña, as the inputs
of water from irrigation return of la Vega.
La laguna denominada "Charca
Suárez" y las más recientes “Laguna Norte” y “Laguna Sur” son
superficies de aguas libres perennes, aunque fluctuantes, que se
han alimentado tanto de las aguas subterráneas procedentes del
acuífero de Motril-Salobreña, como de las aportaciones del agua de
retorno de los regadíos de la Vega.
This is what happened to the
Wetlands Guadalfeo. It has only been the Pond of Suarez as a
witness to what was across the mouth of the river.
Esto es lo que le ocurrió a los
Humedales del Guadalfeo. Sólo ha quedado la Charca de Suárez como
testigo de lo que fue toda la desembocadura del río.
Wetlands are a source of life
where wildlife and vegetation found a suitable place to live, or in
the case of birds, make a stop to procreate or rest.
Los humedales son fuente de
vida donde fauna y vegetación encuentra un lugar idóneo para
habitar o, en el caso de las aves, realizar una parada para
procrear o descansar.

VISITA.
Currently, the area of the Pond is adequately fenced to preserve
this area from the rest of the environment.
Actualmente la zona de la
Charca se encuentra debidamente vallada para preservar esta zona
del resto del entorno.
The entrance to the fenced
enclosure must be on N 36 º 43,326 'W 003 º 32,531'.
La entrada al recinto vallado
la debemos hacer por N 36º 43.326’ W 003º 32.531’.
You can make a visit for free
but you must respect a timetable for opening.
Se puede realizar una visita de
forma totalmente gratuita pero debemos tener en cuenta unos
horarios de apertura.

THE CACHE - EL
CACHE
The correct Finding of this
cache should meet two conditions:
First condition: By reading the different existing information
panels along the route to obtain the necessary information to send
to the owner of the cache an e-mail where indicated:
-Total Hectares which currently holds the wetland and which is the
month of the year with higher occupancy of birds.
Second condition. By registering the cache publish a photo of yours
taken at the main observatory of the wetland birds (N 36 º 43,571
'W 003 º 32,465').
Para dar como válido este cache serán necesarias dos
condiciones:
Primera condición: Deberemos leer los distintos paneles
informativos existentes durante el recorrido y obtener la
información necesaria para enviar al propietario del cache un
e-mail donde se indique:
-Total de Hectareas que actualmente ocupa el humedal y cual es el
mes del año con mayor ocupación de aves.
Segunda condición. Al registrar el caché deberá publicarse una
fotografía tomada en el principal observatorio de aves del humedal
(N 36º 43.571’ W 003º 32.465’).
