Geocache Description:

Readington Ramble # 8
This is a micro near the Summer Road Recreation fields. This is just an attempt to show you parts of Readington Township in Hunterdon County. An easy approach is to take the paved trail that circles the whole park. You can get pretty close if you take this path.

Readington Ramble Series: Readington Township is a wonderful place to live. We wanted to create a series of caches that would give you a little tour of the Township and provide you with a little history as well. We’ll also point out the existing caches that you can visit while in the area. So to begin, you should know the basic facts. “July 15, 1730 was the official birth date of Readington Township. Created by Royal Charter as Readings, or Readings Town, it wasn't until 1798 that it became Readington Township. Containing about 48 square miles, ours is the largest Township in the County of Hunterdon and one of the largest in the State of New Jersey.” (From Readington Township History, by Stephanie B. Stevens, Township Historian, 1993)
Other caches included in the Readington Ramble Series: Hillcrest Hideaway, Hill of the Mill, Way Out of Whitehouse, Old Dutch Farm, Rockafellow Rapids, Give my regards to Broad Street, Higginsville Hike.

Park at the Summer Road park: N 40° 32.061 W 74° 46.882. It is only a short walk to the cache, but you need to use some stealth if there are soccer games in progress.

This is a relatively new park in Readington Township. During the warmer months, these fields are filled with soccer and softball players. The park is open from dawn to dusk and pets are allowed. There is no "trail" leading to this cache—you will have to walk though some tall grass and slightly overgrown areas, but it is relatively easy walking.
