This cache is part of a series intended to showcase
Wisconsin's Rustic Roads (WRR). Wisconsin's Legislature established
the Rustic Roads program in 1973 to preserve what remains of
Wisconsin's scenic, lightly traveled roads.
These caches are usually hidden near the right-of-way so that no
bushwhacking is required. Please be respectful of private property
and be aware that, although traffic is normally light, there may be
no shoulder on which to park. Be sure to keep an especially close
eye on children while hunting for the cache.
WRR 12 begins on Back Road, just a few miles east of Lake Geneva
off Highway 50. It winds along Back Road (our favorite section)
before meeting up with Sheridan Springs Road, a short section of
Spring Valley Road, and ends 6 miles later on the appropriately
named Church Street in Lyons. We both grew up in small towns and
Lyons always reminds us of that type of place. As we drove along
looking for a spot to hide this cache, we saw sandhill cranes
feeding in the fields, the back part of one of Grand Geneva's golf
courses, some grazing cattle, 2 kayakers floating along the White
River, and a doe with her fawn.
