Goose Rock Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

crouchcrew: I went out and checked on the cache. All that was left was a zip-lock bag. Time to put this one to rest Since the ranger has said this was placed in a sensitive area and will not issue at permit. Gone but not forgotten! [:(]

Geocache Description:

Park at Deception Pass bridge parking lot. Walk under the bridge and follow the trail to the right.

One of the highest points on Whidbey, Goose Rock offers the closest thing to "mountain climbing" on the island. Though not exactly a lofty summit, Goose Rock gives spectacular and far-reaching views.

There is speculation over where Goose Rock got its name. Some think it was named Goose Rock because it appears as a roasted goose from the east side of Cornet Bay, while others believe it acquired its name because it may have been a nesting place for migrating geese.

To help you find the cache I highly recommend downloading the trails for the area. You can find them here: Visit North West Trails

The cache is a small lock & lock container. Goose Rock is visited heavily especially in the summer months so please use discretion when looking for the cache.
