Unfinished Business Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

HartClimbs: Thinking that after 10 years - this cache has run it's course. Archiving to make space available for other cachers to hide in this great area. Hope you've enjoyed the cache - I know I've enjoyed reading all the logs (there have been some adventures for sure!).

Kudos to all the finders!

Geocache Description:

Relatively easy stages to find but requires some creativity in an interesting area. Enjoy seeing your tax dollars at work!

NOTE: There is NO need to access any active roadways or otherwise put yourself in any danger from moving traffic. If you are in the vicinity of moving vehicles - you are in the WRONG place. Do NOT walk on or otherwise access RT24 in this area. It is a busy highway and is not for pedestrians. Do not park on RT24 either and try to dash-and-grab this cache. Park legally, find the way in - and enjoy the hike. There is no need to trespass on private property.

Ok - that said, (DEPENDING ON THE LOCAL CONDITIONS, PATH CHOSEN, AND SEASON) this may be a great cache to bring children along for - if you choose your path wisely, they'll enjoy the scenery and the hike can be done on fairly easy trails (did I mention to stay OFF Rt 24?). It is a decent walk, however - and not an easy cache (especially if you just follow the GPS arrow).

Each stage is this cache except for the final stage uses something that was already in the environment. Final stage is an ammo box. On your way, be on the lookout for posts, flagpoles, signs, curbs, or other details that will help you move along to the final cache location. I hope you enjoy exploring this area - as I explored I couldn't help but wonder what the builders of this site were thinking.

As you start - head to the coordinates above and look for a green square to stand on. Standing on the square, look through the fence to see a small concrete platform with several circular holes. Count the total number of holes on the platform, as well as the number of bolts in place. Look down at your feet - count the number of letters on the square. (NOTE: as of October 26th - someone had dumped a load of dirt at the cache site - so you will unable to see the platform to calculate C - but I have updated the clues so you no longer need the value!) 'A' and 'B' should be visible - even with the dirt pile. Some changes were made to the description as well to improve accuracy as well (hopefully!). Count of # of holes should INCLUDE any containing bolts.

a= # of holes, b = # bolts, c=# of letters.

Your next location is at 40.45.(a+b)29 74 22.aa9

The second site is clearly marked. You are advised to call 1-800-dde-f4g5.

Your next location is at 40.45.(d-b)94 74.22.fg6

Again, clearly marked. You'll see JC29i FPB N-14-h

Your next location is 40.45.3i7 74.23.hh4

I'd stick with beige here - it's very fashionable and considered the new 'black' for geocaching. Always fashionable.

If you head off to 40.45.mnm 74.22.qjm and you'll be home free.

Hope you enjoy the tour - smart seekers will stick to the high ground. If you're up to your elbows in muck and swamp - you've chosen poorly. (NOTE: This area appears to flood occasionally - so if you find water up to the roadway or the vehicles in KBer's log appear underwater - I'd try this cache another day). Final cache should be a very easy find. The cache description's confusing to match the theme of the area! There are lots of interesting sights in this vicinity - including several interesting abandoned (?) vehicles. Have fun exploring the area while seeking this cache.

Feel free to email if you want to confirm coordinates or provide feedback outside the logs. Please don't post spoilers or anything that would allow someone to shortcut the hunt. All the stages should be within a reasonable distance - there should be no need to move your car once parked but you may be walking a bit. Thanks!
