Lions, Tigers, Bears and more... Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

bluesky98382: This was a fun cache for many geocachers during the last few years.

Now, I do not have the time to reopen and maintain it, and replace the ammo cans when they get stolen.

I am archiving this cache so that another geocacher can use this vicinity. It really is a nice area.

Geocache Description:

Located in the vicinity of the world famous Olympic Game Farm (home to many exotic animals), somewhere along the beautiful lower Dungenesss River. Stay awhile and enjoy the river!

BE STEALTHY! My caches are not intended to be difficult to find. My point is to bring you to an area you would have probably never seen otherwise. Enjoy!

The purpose of this cache is to lead you along the river bank so that you may enjoy the sights and sounds to be found there. A good place for kids and dogs.

This used to be just a trashy wide spot in the road where people would party at night. It was adopted by the Sequim Dungeness Rotary and turned into a nice river access point. Parking is allowed only from dawn until dusk.
Start your search at the larger parking lot: 48° 07.123N 123° 08.889W

Head North from this parking lot, going past two picnic tables and along a winding trail that follows the river. When you come to a clearing next to the river you are about half way there.

We had fun watching a pair of bald eagles circling over the river. Hope you get to see them.

Enjoy the scenic area and things to see. Stick around and relax by the river. Bring a picnic lunch. Hope you enjoy it!

NOTE: Access to the cache may not be possible during extremely high rivers, but should be OK most of the time.

AFTER FINDING::
1. Please re-attach the ammo can handle at each end to the clips and anchor cord provide. This will prevent the cache from washing down stream in the next high water event.
2. Please re-hide and conceal this cache really well with sticks and debris from the surroundings. The trail area is used by lots of people playing along the river and we don't want it spotted inadvertently.
