Une cache située non loin du centre nature de Botrange et
accessible par le chemin qui relie celui-ci au Signal de Botrange.

La cache est constituée par une boîte en plastique cylindrique de
10 cm de diamètre et 20 cm de haut. Elle contient un logbook et
laisse de la place pour quelques goodies mais rien pour écrire :
N'oubliez pas de prendre votre crayon ou
votre stylo
La colonne Hauptmann a été édifiée en 1566 comme la colonne Panhaus
et le Boultè, elle servit probablement de repère aux nombreux
Réformés persécutés et en fuite.
Bartholomeus Hauptmann, échevin de Trèves, habitait Eupen.
Converti au calvinisme, et grand ami et allié de la famille
Panhaus, il fit édifier, lui aussi une colonne sur ce que l'on peut
considérer comme l'itinéraire des Réformés. La colonne a disparu
mais il reste les inscriptions du socle en français et en allemand.
A une certaine époque la colonne porta le nom de "Croix Verners",
une croix ayant été érigée à proximité. Cette croix n'existe
plus.

Botrange" and accessible from the path between the "Centre Nature"
and the "Signal de Botrange".

The stash is a cylindrical plastic box with a diameter of 10 cm and
a height of 20 cm. It contains a logbook and gives space for some
goodies, but there is no pen inside : Don't
forget to bring your own pen
The Hauptmann's column was build in 1566 like the Panhaus column or
the "Boulté". It was probably a reference point for the numerous
persecuted "Reformés" in escape.
Bartholomeus Hauptmann, alderman of Trier, lived in Eupen.
Converted to Calvinism, and friend and ally of the Panhaus family,
he built his own column too on the itinerary of the so called
"Reformés". The column has disappeared but its base remains with
its inscriptions in french and german. At a certain time the column
was named “Verners" cross; a cross having been set up in the
vicinity. This cross doesn't exist anymore.
