Geocache Description:

Be a part of Washington-Centerville Public Library's 200th Anniversary celebration by participating in our Historical Geocache Adventure! There will be 12 geocache sites. Each is located in Washington Township, Ohio or Centerville, Ohio and has some significance to Washington-Centerville Public Library’s 200 year history. New coordinates will be posted each month, and each cache will be left in place for at least 3 months.

In 1970, the Library Board of Trustees began planning an additional library to serve the Northern part of our community. This cache is located near the site of what was once known as the North Branch. It opened in the nearby shopping center in January 1970 and became quite popular. So popular, in fact, that the Library Board, determined to meet the needs of the community, arranged for a larger library facility to handle the demand. This increased demand also led the Library Board to hire the Library’s first Director in 1978. The North Branch collection eventually moved into the Woodbourne Library, which opened in 1980.
