Achtung: Bitte Naturschutzgebiet nicht betreten! Cache liegt zwischen dem schmalen Weg und der etwas höher gelegenen asphaltierten Strasse. Man muss weder ins Wasser noch in den Wald!

Naturdenkmal Nr. 718 "Toter Grund" (Tafel am Anfang und Ende des Weges entlang des Naturdenkmals):
Der "Tote Grund" ist ein Donautalarm, der sich im Bereich des ehemaligen Überschwemmungsgebiets entwickelt hat. Im Zuge der Bauarbeiten für die Neue Donau und Donauinsel wurde dieser Altarm erhalten.
Der Altbestand an Pappeln, Weiden, Eschen und anderen Gehölzen liegt inmitten der Donauinsel. Dieses zirka 1 km lange und bis zu 200 m breite Gewässer, angrenzende Tümpel sowie Röhricht und Buschzonen bilden ein wichtiges Rückzugsgebiet für seltene und gefährdete Tierarten wie Amphibien, Vogelarten und Säugetiere.
Bitte dieses Gebiet nicht zu betreten!
Der Cache kann von der asphaltierten Strasse oder dem kleinen Schotterweg neben dem Naturschutzgebiet gehoben werden. Ich empfehle den kleinen Schotterweg (ca. 1 km) zu Fuß oder mit dem Rad zu nehmen und so das Naturschutzgebiet zu geniessen (siehe Wegpunkte).

The "dead ground" is a Donautalarm, which has developed in the area of the former flood plain. During the construction of the New Danube and Danube Island this oxbow was obtained.
The existing stock of poplars, willows, ash and other trees is situated in the Danube Island. This is about 1 km long and up to 200 m wide waters adjacent pond and reeds and bush areas form an important habitat for rare and endangered species such as amphibians, birds and mammals.

The cache can be lifted from the paved road or the small dirt road next to the nature reserve. I recommend to take the little dirt road (about 1 km) on foot or by bike to enjoy the nature reserve (see waypoints)!
