The 1978 Mercury Monarch:
My first vehicle, nicknamed The Beast. It was a tough and solid car. A few of my friends had even done elbow drops on the hood of the vehicle to see if they could put a dent in it. They were not very successful. The Beast could handle rough terrain, potholes, back roads, and yes, even snowy hills. One night, me and a couple buddies were bumming around town and ended up at the Dunn County Rec Park. We were discussing a story a classmate had told about driving up the hill in the summer time. Not being the type of guy who is out-done, I took the challenge a step further; a snowy winter hill climb. Even though they said it was impossible, that night we took The Beast up the hill. We drove it up the steep incline all the way up to the tree line and then threw it in reverse and gunned it backwards down the hill. I thought my buddy in the backseat was going to have a heart-attack. To prove to him that he was not in danger, I drove back up the hill and did it again. And then again, and again. When the screaming stopped, I assumed he had either passed out or had realized it was not as dangerous as he was assuming.
The cache is a small/mirco placed not too far from the park roadway. The series is intended to be a Park and Grab and If you were driving a 1978 Mercury Monarch, you’d be able to pull right up next to the cache, snow or no snow. I’d suggest parking on along the roadway and walk the short distance up the hill; it’s probably easier to get that way. Bring a pencil and please place the cache back were you found it.
