Geocache Description:

One of the advantages of geocaching is getting out and enjoying the fresh air while walking and exploring. This event is to put a little more emphasis on the walking aspect of geocaching.

Come enjoy a few minutes chatting, stretching and warming up for this 5k (3.1 mile) walk at 6:30pm. The group photo will be taken just prior to the walk, which will begin promptly at 6:45pm.

The route is a paved sidewalk located alongside the Grand River, in downtown Grand Rapids. We will be walking on both sides of the river as well as crossing multiple walking bridges.

People may approach the walk from a few perspectives:

walk the 5k just for the fun of the walk and the event cache.
walk the 5k for 2x the fun, by timing your walk with a new wherigo, and get the event cache.
walk the 5k at your own pace with stops along the way, picking up caches that are in the area (not necessarily directly on the 5k route).

Note: besides the event and wherigo, we are not placing any new caches for this event.

We will load the wherigo on your device, but you do not need equipment to play the wherigo (just walk with others present who have it). A Shared-FTF on the wherigo cache for all who do the walk event and wherigo.

Everyone walks at a different pace, but plan on approximately 45 - 60 minutes for the walking portion of this event (no stops for caches calculated).

This event is ON regardless of weather (rain, snow or SUN)
