Observatori de la Batalla de l’Ebre (Priorat)
Cache situat al municipi de la Figuera, conegut com "el Sentinella del Priorat" per la seva posició enlairada (575 m), que permet contemplar per una banda els imponents i aspres contraforts minerals del Montsant i per una altra les serres escalonades de les Terres de l'Ebre.
L'observatori militar del comandament republicà durant la Batalla de l'Ebre està situat a la mola de Sant Pau (617 m), prop de l'ermita, a la qual es pot arribar amb cotxe per pista asfaltada des de la Figuera. El maig de 1938 s’hi va començar a treballar per construir, sobre la roca que limita l'abisme, una trinxera revestida de ciment i formigó.
Des de l'ermita de Sant Pau es poden veure els Pirineus, les terres del Segre, les Garrigues, els Ports, el Maestrat i l'Aragó, i es diu diu que es poden arribar a contemplar set províncies (Tarragona, Lleida, Saragossa, Castelló, Terol, Osca i Conca).
Al paisatge hi predominen els conreus de vinya i d'olivera, que produeixen vi de la D.O. Montsant i oli Siurana.
Us recomanem que accediu al catxé arribant amb cotxe fins a l'ermita de Sant Pau i des d'allà aneu a peu fins a l'observatori (és una passejadeta de no res).
Observatory of the Battle of the Ebre
Cache placed in the municipality of La Figuera, named "the Sentry of the Priorat” for its lifted position (575 m), which allows to contemplate the impressive and rough mineral buttresses of the Montsant and the saws spaced out of the Terres de l'Ebre.
The military observatory of the republican command post during the Battle of the Ebre is placed near the hermitage of Sant Pau (617 m), to which you can go by car from the Figuera. The republican military observatory started to be constructed in May of 1938 and soldiers worked there for a month to construct a trench coated with cement and concrete.
From the hermitage of Sant Pau, you can see the Pirineus, the lands of the Segre, Les Garrigues, Els Ports, El Maestrat and Aragon, and people says that seven provinces (Tarragona, Lleida , Zaragoza, Castelló, Teruel, Huesca and Cuenca) can manage to be contemplated from here.
On the landscape, predominate vineyards and olive trees, which produce wine of the D.O. Montsant and Siurana oil.
The best way to get to the cache is by car as far as the hermitage of Sant Pau, and then by food (it's only a little walk).
