Geocache Description:

Enjoy a few moments in this location.

Update June 15th 2025 - Requirements have changed.

Memorial Park and its 100-year-old Dutch Elms are located in a circle at the base of Spring Street. The park displays a granite monument engraved with the names of the nine island men who died in WWI and the insignia of the four branches of the military service at that time: the Navy, Marine Corps, Artillery, and Infantry. The park also honors those lost in WWII and the Korean War.

To log this cache: You will need to physically visit this location. I know, it seems dumb that I have to spell that out, but I do. While at this location take a picture next to the granite Memorial Monument. The picture must include either 1) yourself (aka,a selfie), or 2) if you prefer privacy, a scrap of paper with your caching name clearly and visibly written on it. Then upload the image with your found log.  There is no need to email it to me.

History of this Virtual cache:

Originally in 2002 this was a 3 part Virtual.   Then some time ago the second waypoint location was removed.   Then recently the 1st Waypoint loation was removed.   So we are just left with the 3rd and final location which was within about 475 feet of the original coordinates.     If you are interested in the original cache text I've left it included below.

Original coordiantes: N 48° 32.119 W 123° 00.921

Original text

This is a virtual cache in 3 parts. You will need to find answers at each step to help you find the next.

Location #1 - Coordinates shown will take you here. Find out what years Jack F. was the port administrator. His first year is AAAA and the last year is BBBB.
Add AAAA to the last four digits in the North Coordinate 48* 3 0.199 and subtract BBBB from the last four digits in the West Coordinate 123* 0 2.955 to find the next location.

Location #2 - How many million dollars did the breakwater cost. The answer is in the form C .
Multiply the last three digits in both the North and West Coordinates 48* 32. 042 123* 00.308 by C to get the final coordinates for the last location.

Location #3 - Look for a plaque and find out Walter E. ?????'s last name.

Take time to enjoy the area of these three locations. We really liked it there.
