Welcome to America's State Tree Woodland Walk
Trees ... gifts from our past, and an investment in our future.
Stroll down this path to explore the great trees of America, where each of our country's fifty states is represented.
An American Legancy: From the broad avenues lined with American elm trees, to immensity of the California Redwoods, we pay tribute here to the living legacy of America's great trees.
Trees of all Kinds: Here at the Woodland Walk, you'll see many different types of trees. Some are evergreen, keeping their leaves or needles year-round. Others are deciduous, they lose their leave every fall. Trees that produce cones are called conifers. Hardwoods like oak have a more complex wood structure, including pores, than softwoods.
Leaves come in all shapes and sizes. Can you tell the difference between simple and compound? A leak is simple if its stem attaches directly to woody twig of the tree. A compound leaf has several small leaflets attached to a single stem.
