GO DAWGS!
There was much rejoicing in Pullman this past year (2005) as the Washington State Cougars managed a rare win in the Apple Cup over a beleagured University of Washington Huskies team. There was even rejoicing, and not a small amount of taunting, in the Leschi/Madrona area of Seattle as well. To top it off, a beer bet had to be paid off to a particularly rabid Cougar at the 1st Annual TUS BrewHaHa (GCRN0Q). That hurt. Still, there isn't a day go by that I don't thank my lucky stars that I'm a dawg!
To find this cache, find the answers to the three simple questions below - you can use the "User's Web Page" link at the top to find the answers. The stats you want are through the 2005 Apple Cup game, and only include the games that were known as Apple Cup games (i.e., beginning the year of the christening)
1. In what year was the Apple Cup so christened? That answer is ABCD.
2. How many Apple Cups has the UW won? That answer is EF.
3. How many Apple Cups has WSU won? That answer is GH.
To get to the cache (coordinates updated 1/25/06):
SUBTRACT from the last three digits of the posted latitude:
(EF * C) - (E * H)
ADD to the last three digits of the posted longitude
((A + B + D) * (C/D)) + G
CHECKSUM: N 22 W 24
ps - Cougars may simply email me for the exact coordinates as this puzzle may prove a bit too obscure and confusing (not to mention sobering!) for them.
Congratulations to schulesjoe from all the way out in Bothell on nabbing the FTF in the TUS backyard!
