Geocache Description:

Cache in the Parks 2012 is an Event Cache in Upper Macungie Township, PA. This year the event will focus on creative cache containers and hiding places. We will have several seasoned cachers on hand who will go out in the field with inexperienced cachers and show them the ropes along with hiding some new caches.

When: Saturday, June 30, 3012 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, "rain or shine"

Where: Upper Macungie Park (Route 100 Park), Hawk Pavilion, 1625 North Route 100, Fogelsville. The park is located on the east side of Route 100 approximately one mile north of the intersection of I 78 and Route 100.

Main entrance: N 40 35.662, W 075 37.796
Alternate Entrance: N 40 35.466, W 075 37.827 (Haasadahl Road entrance)

Who should attend and why: The event is open to everyone, regardless of your geocaching abilities. The event is FREE. All participants will get a small "coin" and prizes will be available.

We need experience geocachers too who are willing to go around the local area afterward with interested new cachers and show them the ropes.

This year the event will focus on hiding caches: how, where, creative types of containers, etc.

I also have several items/caches that people gave me at the event last year and just need help hiding them. This would be a great way to maybe do that too. I have several containers, items, logbooks, etc.

We will still have a demonstration about the basics of geocaching again this year at around 10:30 am so any new cachers can get an overview. We will also have gps units available to loan out to anyone who doesn't have their own.

We will need the help of a few local experienced geocachers (AppleDon has already committed) who are willing to go around to nearby caches after the presentation with the new cachers who show up. You know, sort of show them the ropes. Maybe even make a hide with them somewhere new using one of the caches I have, or use your own.

This would be a great time to make a hide in that great place you have been thinking of while also getting others excited about geocaching. I know AppleDon is known to mentor people. I am hoping others are too and would be willing to help out for a few hours.

We had over 60 attend the event last year.

If you could pass the word, particularly to those from the Fogelsville area since they know the local caches the best, I would appreciate it. We really need some help and support from our local, seasoned geocachers.

Bring your creative caches along with you to show off to others!
