On Saturday, September 28, 2013 we had an area "Tri-CITO'thon" in Manatee, Sarasota, and Charlotte County. The Manatee County event was here at Emerson Point Preserve where we cleanup the Preserve by picking up trash along the trails and in the mangroves along the coastline. We had approximately 20 cachers come to help, collecting 9 buckets of recyclables and 1 large bag of actual trash.
This specific CITO will be another "green" cleanup where we will be using buckets instead of trash bags, reusable gloves and then recycling whatever we possibly can. Buckets and reusable gloves will be provided.
Please dress appropriately and wear good shoes you don't mind getting dirty and/or wet. We will be cleaning in the mangroves, as this is where the most trash has been washed up. This event will be held from 8 am until approximately 12 pm. You need not be here for the full 4 hours, if you do have a couple of hours free please come on out and help out. We just ask you come for at least 1-2 hours. If you do arrive late, please get a bucket or two as well as some gloves and head out!
Water and snacks will be provided, but please bring lunch for afterwards. You may also want to bring sunscreen and bug spray as well.
