This cache is being placed as a memorial to Borders Books & Music.
I got the idea for what became a series of 16 caches from my wife's former workplace. She was employed at Borders Books & Music in Bridgewater, NJ, from 2002 through 2006. Borders, of course, was one of the United States' two largest brick and mortar bookstores. However, due to overexpansion, bad management, and the surge of Amazon as a book purveyor and e-book leader, Borders was forced into Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The owners were unable to find a buyer for the company, and all its retail locations closed by September 2011.
In order to honor the memory of the good times both she and I had here, I'm placing a series of caches at each of New Jersey's retail locations.
Along with the Flemington store, Watchung was the location where we were if we weren't at our home store in Bridgewater. Its cafe was just as nice, but the tables were round, instead of square. I like square; so sue me. :)
If you look around GZ, you'll wonder why you're where you are. However, if you turn to the large store closest to you and look left about 45 degrees, the former Watchung store is there on the corner.
The hiding place is right in the open, so watch out for muggles! You will need a writing implement to sign the cache. No special tools are required.
