The Rye Patch Reservoir is on the Humboldt River alongside Hwy 80.
The cache is located along the historic Applegate-Lassen Trail
where it crosses the Humboldt River. When the wagon trains of
emigrants crossed Nevada during the 1800's, this was the last spot
with cool water and grass for their stock the emigrants would see
before crossing the Black Rock desert.
Depending on the weather, don't wear your good shoes. Cache is a
decon container. Please replace it carefully so it doesn't get
lost.
