Located at the overlook into Desolation Canyon on the Green River.
From Wellington Utah, take the Nine Mile Canyon road. Travel
through to Gate Canyon, then on to Wrinkle Road. Continue towards
the Sand Wash road. As you near the top of Sand Wash before the
intersection, look to your right for a side road that heads
eastwardly. Out on the plateau find the dirt airstrip. This is used
occasionally, so watch for aircraft too! This is a beautiful view,
and worth the effort. On the return you can stay on Wrinkle Road at
the head of Sand Wash, and drive to Myton, and US40, or track down
Sand Wash to the boat launch in Desolation Canyon. Nice campground,
rustic cabins to look at and a monument to J.W. Powells 1869 trip
down the Green River. Happy caching.

We were here this weekend.... looked up caches along the way but forgot the list and couldn't find any internet connections in Wellington... such a shame- so close. Not sure if/when we'll be back. With rain expected Sun a.m. we decided not to stay at Sand Wash- headed up on top and out in the morning. Quite a trip, the roads are well improved for the passage of large trucks- not sure that is a good thing... but we didn't encounter oil trucks on THIS stretch of road. Nice.

The last time I checked, the cache was there. Admittedly that has been a while ago. It's stuck down in the rock pile, so that may make it hard to see. Good luck.Slick Rock Red
