E.C.S. Jr (Teddy) was my cousin, and he introduced me to Geocaching. I always meant to try it for myself, but I didn't get around to it until 2013. Teddy passed away suddenly from sleep apnea at the age of 33 in June of that year. After a few months I thought about how special it would be if I could create a cache in his name. He loved the excitement of trackables. He'd always grab them when available and spend time seeing where they had been, and move them to cool new locations. Teddy would take his wife and three children around telling the kids they were looking for 'treasure.' He was always so excited to share what he had found with the them. In true Teddy fashion, when a cache was damaged he went out if his way to repair it to the best of his abilities as well as let the cache owner know what had or needed to be done. In addition, Teddy was an avid car enthusiast, performed random acts of kindness, cheered for Philadelphia sports teams and was a technological master-mind who loved to fix and tinker with computers. Teddy loved good conversation, games, fishing, and above all, his family. Teddy was a super hero making a better world for his family and others through his random acts of kindness, voulenteering to help build the Haverford Freedom playground, and going to Harrisburg with other parents from UDSD to speak in support of better funding and programs for students with learning differences.
