Back in May of 1998 I brought Jen, my girlfriend, to this location to enjoy the view. It was a sunny spring day and the view was a little hazy but still quite a sight to behold. We sat her camera on a rock to snap a picture of us together and then, after admiring the beautiful scenery a while longer, I finally built up enough nerve to do what I'd been wanting to do for weeks; I reached into my pocket and pulled out the diamond ring that I'd purchased a month earlier, then got down on one knee and asked Jen to marry me. Her answer made me the happiest guy in Pennsylvania that day. Now, nine years later, Jen and I are happily married with 2 great kids. The picture we took at the vista still sits in our living room as reminder of the special moment we shared here.
I placed this cache to share this awe-inspiring location with those who otherwise might have just passed it by. This is one of those special places that's far enough off the beaten path to be overlooked, but still easy to get to. The view from the vista is extraordinary so come on a clear day if you can.
I highly recommend you bring someone special along when you visit here because it's a great spot to talk, daydream, ponder the future, reminisce about the past, and yes, even propose. Whatever you do, be sure to bring a camera so you can treasure the moment forever.
Camping is not allowed at the vista, however there are numerous hiking trails and overnight camping locations nearby that you can make use of. Here is a map of the Loyalsock State Forest that might come in handy. Vehicular access is possible, weather permitting.
