Rest n' Peace 5 - Saylorsburg North - Gower Cemetery

This is the 5th in Team_Zigbot’s Rest n' Peace series and is located in the village of Saylorsburg.

It’s located on old Golf Course Rd. Yes, Saylorsburg had a 9-hole course 35 years ago and it was quite nice, the fairways are still there as well as the club house. You can’t play anymore, but it still has the charm.

This cemetery is located on the northern end of the course toward Rt. 209 and has no boundaries or fence. This is another of the few Revolutionary War, pre-turn-of-the-century cemeteries. A lot of the names are familiar and some are families long departed.

This cache lies along the edge of the meadow and overlooks the deceased. These folks too were real local pioneers, scraping a existence out of old grow forest that used to cover this area before the industrial revolution.

Someone put in a bench and very nice monument.

 

As with all cemetery caches, honor those resting here by respect.
