GeoCaching
Castor Canadensis... North American Beaver. This cache will bring
you to the Beaver Brook Wildlife Area south of Spooner,WI. This is
a great hiking and cross country ski area with 15 miles of trails.
There are several ways to approach this cache, I would recommend
using the parking lot at the sign on Cranberry Rd. Follow the trail
.7 of a mile. You will have to cross the stream at some point, we
had no trouble even with the recent higher water levels. We were
able to hop on a log jam to the west bank of Beaver Brook. You are
looking for a camouflaged ammo can filled with treasures and a log
book. All of the contents are enclosed in a large ziploc bag, so
please place things back in it. This should be accessible in the
winter , so to speak. The difficulty could reach a 5 with lots of
snow! Please don't consider looking for this cache during the rifle
deer hunting season, as this is public land. The Geocache
Notification Form has been submitted to the wildlife manager at the
Spooner headquarters of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require
permission by means of a notification form. Please print out a
paper copy of the notification form, fill in all required
information, then submit it to the land manager. The DNR
Notification form and land manager information can be obtained at:

August 19 by soldier-mykee (229 found) It was a long hike, and a wet day, at least my daghter(CKW_2015) found her first geocoin which made the trip. I did replace another coin at another location nearby. TFTC TNLN SL
[view this log] | August 9 by Maverick&Dad (70 found) Quite the hike to this one. enjoyed a few black berries on the way in. Got our toes wet in the stream and cut across country on the way out. Good thing mom stayed with the truck.
[view this log] | June 27 by craizel (515 found) Yes, there are numerous ways to reach this cache. We tried the direct approach, and ended up losing count of the number of times we crossed the stream. On the return trip, we decided to try a different route, and used the trail. We recommend this second option. Swapped a geocoin for a TB.
[view this log] | April 29 by Hayward Cheezehead (395 found) Well, since I was in the area, I figured I'd get this one that been om my radar why too long. Parked at th suggested parking spot and started the hike in. Great trail and a great spot for the cache. But I want to know, just how did you come across it? The Geo-pups and I were a tad tired after this one so we figured we'd the other local caches at another time. Thanks! Dropped White Jeep TB
