Geocache Description:

The second in a very short series relating to legendary musicians and their connections to the area. A great walk along Offa's Dyke Path with views to the Black Mountains and an impressive folly.

As you walk up to the cache site in the peaceful Monmouthshire countryside you could easily be forgiven for thinking that there's nothing rockin' around here. Well you'd be very wrong.
Just below the cache site is one of the most influential recording studios in the world! Rockfield Studios was the first ever residential studio and is frequently listed in the top handful of studios in the world. Queen recorded (and partially wrote) what is widely regarded as the best single of all time here. As well as Bohemian Rhapsody they also recorded the albums Sheer Heart Attack and A Night at the Opera, the latter title coming from a night at Rockfield watching the Marx Brothers film of the same name.
Oasis recorded What's the story, Morning Glory and over a 12 month period in 1996/7 five UK number one albums were recorded here.

So while you admire the view from Caxton Tower, just think, someone may be recording a track down there right now that will change the face of music as we know it for the next generation, just as some of the former clientele have already done.

The main point of this cache is the location of the listed coordinates. A search here should arm you with the information to get you to the physical cache.

The studios are at the bottom of the hill to the north east. They are the building to the right of the farm with the large silo.

Expect the path to be muddy for most of the year and wear appropriate footwear.

You do not need to go in to the folly.

This cache is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Feelgood's Lee Brilleaux (1952 -1994). A truly great performer and a man I admired very much.
