Don't let the bold type above intimidate you from this cache. It's just there for fun. My fun. I was introduced to Cochran Creek Valley when I first started geocaching, and it has since become one of my favorite favorite close-to-home mountain biking spots. If you are going to attack one or more of these caches, please note that I rode 12.6 miles during my 3-1/2 hour journey. I also hit 41.7 mph on the big downhill return stretch to the gate, which equals at least 51.7 to someone with health insurance! The parking coords I use are N44º 25.881 W122º57.529 (Elevation 475'), and the timber company controlling this land authorizes hikers and non-motorized vehicles past the gate; if you discover a better (legal) place to park, please post the coords in your online log.
These caches are all about the scenery and views. And speaking of views, tree huggers, we appreciate your yours, too, but please refrain from negative comments in your logs. Live a paperless and timber-less life as a true testament to your beliefs instead. This is a timber farm, not a wilderness area; notice all of the young trees growing here.
Bring a writing stick. Don't whine about the lack of trade goodies; it's all about the hike/ride and the view. Please log any DNF's, in case I need to fine-tune things a bit. Enjoy!
The cache offers a nice place for a picnic and even a nap (I did!). You seek an 4"X2" plastic pill container painted with what some would call a cool camo job. Be sure to soak in the view, and feel free to reflect on it in your online log. Waypoint was set with my Garmin 60CS showing 7' of accuracy and an elevation of 1150 feet.
