Geocache Description:

After the success of all the previous Southern Tier events it only seems logical to have one in the summer! I've wanted to have an event in Arnold Park for a long time, and now the time has come.

Come one, come all to Arnold Park, in the Town of Vestal, on Saturday, July 9th. The listed coordinates are for shelter #4. For anyone familiar with the park that's the one up on the hill (the cool one!). Arnold Park is probably one of the best equipped parks in the area. There’s access to grills, playground equipment, ball fields, football field, rest room facilities, running water, electricity, a sand volleyball court and of course the large nature trail with 2 caches.

The event will start at 11:00am and run as long as we want. We will be providing hot dogs and buns for lunch, as well as some sort of dessert (and believe me, Grandma Ankle of Team Proline makes some great desserts). Condiments, ice, and plates are also taken care of. Just like all the other “potluck events”, though, feel free to bring something else to eat/drink to share.

As par the usual event cache, there will be a travel bug exchange, event caches and some other surprises I know you will not want to miss! There will also be door prizes, so bring something along to donate if you’d like to.

We hope to see you all there!

White Jeep Travel Bugs

First and foremost, there will only be 1 white Jeep per team. NO exceptions. Also, none will be given to any particular people, you'll have to be one of the lucky "winners" to get one. I got 20 from Groundspeak and this is to ensure the greatest number of people get one and that the distribution is entirely fair, as I'm assuming more then 20 people/groups will show up for the event. They will be given out in a number of different ways. We could just do the boring old "first 20 groups get one" routine, but that's no fun at all! Here's some things everyone can get a head start on to have a better chance at "winning" a Jeep. Some of the ways to get a WJTB include...

  • Winning Vargseld/Team Proline trivia. Brush up on your knowledge of miscellaneous facts (all geocaching related) about us and you could walk away with a Jeep.

  • Complete your geo-bingo card (supplied at the event) first.

  • Guess the number of old/dirty golf balls in the cache! Jellybeans just didn't seem appropriate.

  • FTF prizes for the event caches.

  • The person who donates the most (or most expensive) door prize(s) should and will be rewarded... with a Jeep!

  • Whoever brings the most AOL CD's with them to the event will get a Jeep. Yes, this is a serious contest. Finally, AOL discs have a purpose. Start your collection!

  • This one is only for the hardcore cachers. If you really want a WJTB come dressed as a white Jeep. Yep, you read that correctly! Any person/team who makes up a white Jeep costume (don't skimp on it, go all out) and shows up wearing it will get one.

  • There will be a bunch of other ways to get one, but it would give unfair advantages if I said anything else on this page. You'll have chances to get one all throughout the day. The ways listed above are just a sampling!

Finally, a big thank you goes out to Groundspeak and New York Admin for sending these Jeeps to the Southern Tier.
