Czar mine The shaft was started in 1885 eventually it would reach a depth of 440 ft with levels cut on the 100, 200 , 300 and 400 ft marks. This mine operated nearly 60 years before shutting down in 1944. The final end for the shaft came in 1973 when the collar caved in causing the headframe to fall over. This mine was noted to be wet, cold and to have produced many fabulous mineral specimens some which can be seen at the Bisbee Mining and Historical Museum located in downtown Bisbee. Today all that is left is a brass cap (marked water) in the middle of the parking lot that covers a pipe that is used to monitor the shaft.

Great to have a cache right near the Queen Mine Underground Tour. Arrived early so we could find the cache first. We traded TBs, and left nothing else....thanks!
