Mt. Waldo is the tallest mountain in the area with a clear (but
steep) trail to the top.
This mountain has great views and is worth the visit. If you have a
Jeep with low-low gears, you can drive to the top. Otherwise, park
off the road where it turns from dirt to ledge. Start in Frankfort.
From Rt 1A, turn onto "Old Stage Road". Bear left off the pavement
from "Old Stage Road" onto Tyler Lane (currently being widened and
is quite dug up). Go 2.2 miles on the dirt road to the base of the
ledges. If you feel brave, drive to the top, otherwise, start
hiking. Some items to start off the cache are my sig. item, a
couple of Hot Wheels cars, a word search book, sunscreen wipes and
a FTF $2.00 bill. You are looking for a standard ammo box. -Note,
as of summer 2011, the final road in is posted. No cars. Just means
a little more of a hike in the fresh air!-
