Geocache Description:

The Organ Needle is the highest point of the jagged peaks which dominate the Las Cruces skyline. This cache is one of a series designed to assist adventurous geocachers to its top.

This small rock formation is commonly referred to as "Yellow Rocks" by those hiking up to the Organ Needle. It is the first major landmark along the route regardless of which approach option you take (via modoc Mine rd or from La Cueva/Filmore Canyon). In the right light the rocks do indeed appear yellow, but often they appear more white or beige. It is in comparison to the grey/purple rhiolites and white-pink granites above that these rocks really seem yellowish. When you reach the Yellow Rocks, the real steep hiking is just about to begin.

On the lid of the cache tin is coordinates for the next cache in this series, The Grey Emminence, the large rhiolite feature looming above.
