Geocache Description:

The terrain can be a little treacherous, especially if the ground is wet (slick rocks on the trail). Wear sturdy boots or shoes. If you plan on spending extra time on the trail, consider bringing along a trail map. AT Map 8 covers this section.

In case you haven’t figured it out by now, we’re a couple of lost Texans now living in VA, so we had to name at least one cache after our beloved Lone Star State.

Located on Blue Mountain near Linden, VA, this cache is one of four in the general area. Once you’ve found the caches, there are other activities and plenty of beautiful scenery to enjoy in the area. Continue hiking on the trail to discover wildlife (maybe even the black bear that lives nearby) and, perhaps, meet some thru-hikers who always have great stories to tell about their journey. (Give them Gatorade and fruit, and they may just talk your ear off.)

Parking
You’ll be driving several miles on a gravel road, so leave the Benz at home and bring the Jeep.

There are numerous parking areas along Fire Trail Road, but N38 58.054, W078 01.097 may be the closest.

Cache Contents
This trove is a hodgepodge with no specific theme to it, although we made sure to toss in a few items to remind us (and you) of our Lone Star Legacy.
