Geocache Description:

Park near the Visitor Centre and then walk along the New Town Trail until you reach the Draught Burn Brig.

This area had two Eglinton Estate lodges which controlled the traffic along the old Toll Road from Irvine to Kilwinning which ran here from the Drucken Steps, Higgins Cottage, etc.

The lodges are just foundation level ruins now and the old road is cut off by the expressway. The Draught Burn bridge was rebuilt in the 1980s and looks very fine, little used though as the path ahead is very wet.
