This cache is located within a scenic and serene natural grass prairie park. Cache is a nalgene water container that is hidden from plain view. Given the small size, there is room for pencil and log book only.
This is a great scenic walk in natural prairie grass and light forest. A return to a time and place where I grew up, and thus the theme - "childhood memories". Find the geocache to log a childhood memory or two of your own! Given the size of the cache container, please do not leave any tradeables. Log entries only. Thank you!
Some more information to add to the pleasure of your trip.....in 1968 a local sub-committee of the International Biological Program surveyed Manitoba for native prairie plant communities. Of more than 60 sites that were researched, only four were found uncultivated. Ironically, one of the largest undisturbed sites was discovered in this residential area of Winnipeg! This City of Winnipeg nature park contains over 150 different species of grasses and wildflowers in a 32 acre site.
There is an interpretive centre with nearby parking which opens annually with the bloom of the Crocus, Manitoba's Provincial flower. Spring hours are Sunday 10AM-5PM and July-August everyday from 10AM-5PM.
