ETJ (Ebeltoft – Trustrup Jernbane)
I 1874 begyndte anlæggelsen af privatbanen Randers-Grenaa, og i sommeren 1876 var hele anlægget færdigt.
Den 10. oktober 1898 blev der givet koncession på Ebeltoft-Trustrup Jernbane, og arbejdet med anlæggelsen blev påbegyndt året efter. Den officielle indvielse fandt først sted den 26. marts 1901, og da kom passagertransporten også i gang.
Der var engang, da der virkelig var megen trafik på jernbanestationerne. Det var dengang, der blev fragtet meget gods og mange varer med togene fra den ene ende af landet til den anden. Der blev fragtet sten, grus og kalk, korn og foderstoffer, kul og koks, varer til købmænd og brugsforeninger, levende dyr såsom heste, køer og svin til de store eksportmarkeder, sukkerroer og kartofler til henholdsvis sukker fabrikkerne og kartoffelmelsfabrikkerne, o.m.m.
Der var hele tiden aktivitet på stationerne dengang. I stedet for at have en rangermaskine på hver station, så var det mere økonomisk for DSB at ansætte en landmand med en rangerhest til at rangere rundt med de mange banevogne på baneterrænet. Det var et hyggeligt islæt i denne teknologiens og dampmaskinernes verden at se en stor bred jydsk eller belgisk hest gå stille og roligt rundt på baneterrænet og trække de store, tunge banevogne efter sig.
Det er alt sammen fortid nu. Baneterrænet foran Trustrup station, som engang var fuld af aktivitet, ligger nu øde hen. Den atmosfære, der var over stedet, da de store damplokomotiver prustende og stønnende ankom og afgik med de lange vognstammer, findes ikke mere. Nu er trafikken begrænset til det lille tog med kun to vogne, som kommer ad spor 1 med nogle få passagerer.
ETJ (Ebeltoft - Trustrup Railway)
In 1874 began the construction of private runway Randers-Grenaa, and in the summer of 1876, the entire facility completed.
On 10th October 1898 was given a concession in Ebeltoft -Trustrup Railway, and worked with construction began years after. The official inauguration took place on 26 March 1901, and came as passenger traffic also underway. There was a time when there really was a lot of traffic on railway stations. It was then that were shipped much cargo and many goods trains from one end of the country to another. There was shipped stone, gravel and limestone, grain and feed, coal and coke products for merchants and cooperatives, live animals such as horses, cows and pigs for the major export, sugar beet and potatoes to sugar factories and potatoflour factory.
There was always activity at the stations at the time. Instead of having a shunting engine at each station, so it was more economical for the DSB to hire a farmer with a ranger horse to shunt around with the many rail cars on the railroad ground. It was a nice touch in this technology and steam-engine world to see a big broad Jutlandic or Belgian horse go quietly around the railroad ground and pull the big, heavy rail wagons after themselves.
It is all history now. The railroad ground front Trustrup station that was once full of activity, is now deserted. The atmosphere, there were over the spot when the big steam locomotives snorts and groan end arrived and departed with the long wagon comes, no longer exists. Now the traffic is limited to the small train with only two cars that come along tracks 1, with few passengers.
