Iroquois Landing Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Max Cacher: Hello

I noticed this cache while going through all the ones that have been made temporarily unavailable for more than 30 days and archiving them so they will either be fixed or taken off this status , this is something I do every month, when you are ready just email be back and I will unarchive it. You would be surprised how many caches there are like this. And lets be real here if someone can’t fix it in the cache in 30days “well”.

We can not hold this location for you if someone else wants to place a cache there

I do appreciate all the work you have been doing to make this a better sport.

Geocache Description:

Relatively easy to find cache along the banks of the Iroquois River near Rensselaer, Indiana.

This cache is an ammo box hidden along the banks of the Iroquois River near the city of Rensselaer, in Jasper County, Indiana. Park at the public landing at N40 56.050, W87 07.655 to avoid bushwhacking through private property. The trail starts as an ATV trail, then is reduced to a footpath, then deer trails, and perhaps a small amount of bushwhacking at the end. You'll have to cross a small creek, which presents a small level of difficulty, but should be okay for adults with a reasonable amount of agility. The cache should be relatively easy to find once you're in the area.

Along the way you might encounter deer, raccoons, turkey vultures, and great blue heron. There is also an abandoned bridge in the area. I would NOT recommend trying it out, but it's interesting to look at since you're in the area.
If you have a valid Indiana fishing license, take a while to cast your line in the river. You might come up with a smallmouth bass or walleye.

Original contents of the cache include:

Logbook, pencil and sharpener

Some fishing gear (line, hooks, bobbers, sinkers, rubber worms)

Flashlight

Camo hat

Carabiners

Disposable camera (Kindly take your picture with this, but remember, it is NOT a trade item!)

Insect repellant

The insect repellant can be a trade item, or you can use it and leave it. When I was scouting the cache site I walked away with some kind of bites around my ankles.
