Geocache Description:

This cache was named for my geomutt, Rudy.  He has been a faithful caching companion since day one. This summer, I was brought to this area and thought of placing a cache here. To be honest, there aren't many "good" places to put one.

As I was scouting around, Rudy went around the car; no big deal.  I called him and he didn't return. I called him again and he came back around the car licking his chops and acting like he was going to hurl. I went around the car to find out that a hunter had field dressed his deer right off the parking lot. Rudy took it upon himself to make a statement of the poor quality of dog food that I have been feeding him, hence, Barfing Dog Cache.

This cache is located in a Glacial Habitat Restoration Area, just east of Omro, near Spring Brook. There is a hiking trail which starts from the gate by the parking area and goes back to a wetland area. This is favorite area for waterfowl, doves, deer and even a few turkeys.

This cache is off of the parking area.   Please bring your own writing utensil.

This property is part of the Glacial Habitat Restoration Area (GHRA) which was established in 1990 to restore 38,600 acres of grasslands and 11,000 acres of wetlands to increase populations of ring-necked pheasants, waterfowl, and grassland songbirds in 24 townships in Dodge, Fond du Lac, Columbia and Winnebago Counties. DNR management of this area for wildlife, will allow continued restoration efforts, and provide additional opportunities for public recreation and education.

This area is popular for hunting in fall, but you shouldn't be in the way of any hunters with it being just off the parking area, but keep in mind that these people have guns.

A geocache notification form (visit link) was submitted to Bryan Woodbury at the DNR headquarters in Oshkosh. Approval was granted to place this cache. DNR approval must be obtained before placing geocaches on DNR controlled lands.
