Cache is located at the Keahua Arboretum. From Wailua, take Kuamo’o
Road (Route 580) inland through the Wailua Homesteads residential
area and past the University of Hawaii / USDA Agricultural
Experiment Station. Another 2 miles through what locals call "Loop
Road" eventually leads you to the Keahua Arboretum.
You will need to drive, or walk, thru a section of road that is
submerged in water. Use extreme caution if the water level is high,
you don't want your car to get stranded on the other side. If water
level is not high, any 2wd car can make it. There is a parking lot
immediately after this section of road.
Tree-lined and grassy, this is a perfect spot for a picnic. A
shallow, cascading stream makes for a fun spot for kids to splash,
although the water's a bit chilly. A 1-mi walking trail meanders
through mango, monkeypod, and eucalyptus trees. This is an
exceptionally peaceful place—
Cache is located at the base of a tree near one of the covered
picnic tables and requires only a short walk from the parking lot.
This area is also the starting point for many other wonderful
caches, but use caution if you drive onward because you will need a
4wd vehicle beyond this point.
Bring you camera and enjoy this beautiful part of the
island!
CONGRATULATIONS TO G-OHANA ON A GREAT FTF! ENJOY THE
COIN

November 5 by Mudgekin (197 found) It was a beautiful sunny day so we went out exploring. This is a great spot. TFTH
[view this log] | October 22 by drkmship (276 found) Well, we were 2nd to find, about an hour behind the FTF! Visiting from Texas, we were on the cruise ship Pride of America when we saw a new cache listing appear. By the time we hit port and got the rent car, we were just a little late, I guess. It was still a great experience - definitely a trip we would not have taken without the geocache, and a very scenic and peaceful destination, with some very interesting trees and plants. Thanks a lot - TNLN.

| October 22 by g-ohana (39 found) Woo hoo!! Our first FTF! I was away at work and told my trusty teammate (wife) about the cache listing. She didn't know how to input the cache data into our GPSr, so she went in based off of the detailed instructions and a good sense of smell ;o) She almost gave up, but shear determination drove her forward until reaching the goal. The initial cache contents were one sharktooth necklace, one Kauai keychain, one Kauai magnet and a FTF geocoin. T: FTF geocoin & necklace L: 911turbos Geocoin & our signature pathtag (please log if snatching this up). A big mahalo to mokihana for the cache and the first to find prizes!
