Geocache Description:

No need for a GPS until the final cache.
This one is a test of your orienteering skills, around an old course in Sheffield's largest park.
The cache is not at the above coordinates! But they are as good a place to park as anywhere.

As a youth I used to enjoy orienteering around a few of Sheffield's parks that had static courses.
Some of the old posts are still available for viewing, so here is a chance to show Geocachers how it should be done.

You will need to take a copy of the map of the course and the table of posts you may need to visit as well as a compass and pencil.

If you would like a higher resolution map just mail me and I will send one by return mail.

The controls are 2 foot high white posts with red writing.
Some of the controls have sadly gone and some have been replaced by having their numbers/letters sprayed onto trees.
So keep an eye out for both when you are wandering around.
All controls needed for this cache were in position at the time of placing

The cache is hidden away from view but stealth is still required.
Satellite reception can be sporadic near to the cache site. But there are open areas nearby to get a clear reception to help you find the cache site.
We had 30ft accuracy when placing.
