Geocache Description:

This is a NIGHT TIME ONLY cache, involving a short walk along a dirt road and through some woods. You will need a powerful flashlight.

NOTE: The coordinates listed above are for parking! To find the cache itself, you must do a little work. Keep reading for the details.

This cache, is a tribute to Jim Beam & St Pauli Girl's (the original owners of this cache) favorite author, H.P. Lovecraft. The impact of his little-known writing can be detected in nearly any horror movie one can think of. He also laid the foundation for modern horror writers, including Stephen King and John Carpenter. "The Tomb" is the title of one of his short stories, hence the nickname for this cache.

The container is a pine box painted black
Inside is a mil surplus decon container containing the log book

Even as I placed this cache in the evening twilight, I was uneasy. Distant thunder rumbled, and flashes of lightning illuminated the twisted, rotting trees. I was startled by the sound of an unknown animal, as was my faithful hound, who recoiled at the noise. To this day, I have still never concluded what creature made the unnatural noise, which I most closely liken to the trumpeting of an elephant. The batteries in both my GPS and electric lantern were on the verge of failure, so I limited the use of both, and made my nervous exit in virtual pitch blackness. I hope that you have as spine-tingling and heart-pounding an adventure locating this cache as I did hiding it!

Now, to find this cache, you must proceed to the above coordinates.

At the gate, using your flashlight, look to the NNW.

You will see eyes staring back at you. How many pairs of eyes do you see?

The number of PAIRS of eyes = A.

Walk to the eyes
Now look 90 degrees to your right.

The number of pairs of eyes you see = B.

The coordinates for the last point are:

N35 31.4XX (XX=65+A)
W097 40.5YY (YY=43+B)

Now you can complete the coordinates and go to the last point.

Arriving at your last point, look to the south.
You will see one last pair of eyes, at the cache site.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:

Make sure you park outside the gate (if it is open)
or you could get locked inside Stinchcomb overnight..

Also, when closing the log book container - please remember to snap the lid back FIRMLY in place (ALL 4 CORNERS) so the log book will not get wet during the next flood (and it WILL Flood)

STINCHCOMB WARNING: I need to let everyone know that Stinchcomb is a place that when it rains, it turns into a bog. The areas around the 4 lakes are generally mud and 6 foot cattails. You can get lost or stuck if you are not careful. It is a deceptive area and people do get lost there. Be sure you take a compass, and extra batteries for your GPS. If it is cold take a coat.

Stinchomb is not a place you want to be lost in..after dark

MOST IMPORTANT !!!!

There is NOTHING to Trade
ONLY a Log Book to Sign

PLEASE - Leave the things you find in the pine box
there when you leave !!!!
