Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

archaos: in the light of there being no attempts on this during the summer, in spite of it being a most benign and extended one, I am reluctantly forced to archive this due to me not being able to maintain it adequately

It seems that this cache was just too extreme for most of you. A similar cache may be resurrected somewhere more proximate to my current domicile.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

This is a 35mm film canister hidden within 800m of the published location, which is for the end of the Banjo Groyne on the Kemp Town seafront in Brighton. You will need to go there in order to determine the position of the actual cache, which will not be available during the winter months. Please bring your own pencil. On street parking is available nearby, but is quite expensive and normally busy.

The Banjo Groyne was at one time the eastern terminus for the Volk's Electric Railway, which is the oldest operating electric railway in the world. It was later extended to Black Rock, after the demise of the 'Daddy Longlegs', which ran from here to Rottingdean and was advertised as 'A Sea Voyage On Wheels'. The concrete blocks that supported it can still be seen at low tide to the east of Brighton Marina.

The clues are out there!

Be warned that it may be very dangerous to attempt this in bad weather, or at night.

The cache itself is easily accessible, but in a very busy area so discretion is advised. Please be careful when replacing it to ensure it is secure.

Please do not reveal any information as to the nature of the solution to this cache, and do not log it as a find if you feel your personal effort is not commensurate with the terrain rating. This is especially so for group attempts,
